Gatchell’s Pit Playground
Gatchell’s Pit is located at the corner of West Shore Drive and Lafayette Street. This 8.33 acre site is the home of Marblehead’s Little League Baseball and Football and includes a new baseball practice field with professional turf and batting cages, a baseball diamond, a midget football field, a play structure, restroom facilities and parking. The concession stand is open during games.
Gerry Playground
Gerry Playground is located on Stramski Way, off West Shore Drive. It has 6.85 acres with a wooden play structure, picnic tables, a beach area, and parking. Adjacent to the playground is a beautiful park overlooking Salem Harbor.
Hobbs Playground
Hobbs Playground is located on Clifton Avenue. Its’ 1.4 acres has a play structure and a Little League Baseball field.
Bud Orne Playground
Named after the late Bud Orne, the long time park and recreation director, considered the father of Marblehead Youth Hockey and one of Marblehead's favorite residents. Bud Orne Playground is located on Sheppard Street. It has 5.22 acres, a play structure and a softball field.
Reynolds Playground
Reynolds Playground is located on Green Street. The 5.45 acres is the site of the brand new Marblehead Dog Park scheduled to open in April 2008. It has playground equipment, picnic tables, softball fields, and restroom facilities.
Seaside Playground
Seaside Playground is located on Atlantic Avenue directly behind the baseball diamond at Seaside Park. It has a play structure, tennis courts, basketball courts, and a baseball field. (See Seaside Park)
Bell School
Although we have not included all of the school playgrounds, Bell School has built 2 new playgrounds in recent years. The Lower Bell Playground was built to be the most accessible to all children, regardless of any disability.
